Paper Tube Packaging and Thermal Paper Prices on the Rise

Packaging suppliers Sonoco and Caraustar Industries have recently announced price increases for paper tube packaging and cores effective on future shipments. The announcement cites rising raw material costs and “additional industry considerations” as the driving factors behind the roughly 10% price hike. Sonoco will begin instituting the increase on shipments beginning April 10, 2017, and Caraustar on April 3.

Prices of recycled paperboard packaging products have been steadily rising in recent years to address escalating costs and inflation.

In addition, a manufacturer of thermal paper, Appvion, has also just released a notice that they will be increasing the cost of their thermal paper by 5-7%.
